Personal Care

Personal Care

Personal care is an umbrella term that is used to describe the support given to someone in order to meet personal hygiene needs.

Examples of the personal care services we can provide includes:

  • Washing, showering and bathing

  • Support with oral hygiene

  • Dressing and undressing

  • Applying creams

  • Hair care and applying make-up

  • Shaving

  • Foot care

  • Support to use the toilet, commode or bed pan

  • Moving position in the bed in order to reduce the likelihood of pressure sores

  • Support with changing incontinence pads, stoma bags and catheter care

  • Overnight care – Having someone to stay with you overnight can be in the way of a waking night, where the support worker remains awake, or as a sleep in (sleeping area would need to be provided)

  •  A sleep in allows for the worker to assist you up to three times during the agreed period (usually 10pm to 7am)

Our support workers are trained to protect your privacy and dignity and provide care in a way that you feel comfortable with. We will tailor the level of support to meet your needs. Your personalised care plan will detail the personal care you need support with, and we will encourage you to continue with the elements you are able to do for yourself in order to promote your independence.
